Error correction lets a QR code be scanned even if part of it is obscured or damaged. Level L recovers 7% of data, M recovers 15%, Q recovers 25%, and H recovers 30%. Use H if you plan to add a logo over the center of the code. Use L or M for clean codes where file size matters.

What size should I use for print vs. web?

For web use, 256 px is usually sufficient. For print, use 512 px or 1024 px to ensure the code scans clearly when scaled up. QR codes printed smaller than about 2 cm (0.8 inches) can be hard for some scanners to read.

Can I use a custom foreground and background color?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can set any foreground and background color using the color pickers. Make sure there is enough contrast between the two colors, as low-contrast codes are harder to scan. Dark foreground on a light background works best.

Does the QR code expire?

No. QR codes generated here encode data directly in the pattern, so they work forever without any external service. The only exception is if you encode a URL that later goes offline -- the code itself still works, but the destination would be unavailable.
